Universität Stuttgart
The University of Stuttgart, founded in 1829, is a leading technology-oriented university with a global reputation based on its vision of “Intelligent Systems for a Sustainable Society.” As a university at the heart of a region characterized by strong economic vitality and cultural integration, it sees itself as a hub for academic, non-academic, and industrial research, as well as a guarantor of research-driven teaching focused on quality and a holistic approach. The “Stuttgart Approach” stands for the interdisciplinary integration of engineering, natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences based on cutting-edge disciplinary research. Its outstanding standing as a research university is reflected in particular by its highly successful performance in the Excellence Strategy to strengthen top-tier research in Germany. As part of this highly competitive program, two projects were selected for funding: the Cluster of Excellence “Data-Integrated Simulation Science” and the Cluster of Excellence “Integrative Computer-Based Design and Construction for Architecture.”
Other flagship initiatives include the ARENA2036 research campus, participation in the Cybervalley network, and numerous Collaborative Research Centers and Graduate Colleges. Approximately 27,000 students are enrolled across some 150 institutes in ten faculties. The university offers over 140 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including various English-language master’s programs and dual-degree programs. As one of the universities in Germany with the highest level of third-party funding, the University of Stuttgart also serves as a powerful driver for the economy and society of the Stuttgart region and beyond. It maintains close ties with numerous large and medium-sized industrial and commercial enterprises.
